On Saturday, February 20, 2021, a beautiful, morning filled with the sound of songbirds, Nancy Venters Willms departed this life for her eternal reward, to be reunited with loved ones gone before her. Nancy was born in Wilmington, NC to Sallie Lee Collins Venters and Christopher Harry Venters, Sr. on February 16, 1929. Nancy grew up in New Bern, NC and spent many wonderful summers on Catherine Lake, NC. While attending the University of South Carolina, she met her future husband, Robert K. Willms, Sr. Together, they raised two children in Columbia and Charleston, SC. As a member of Christ Church in Mt. Pleasant, she was a member of The Order of the Daughters of the King, and served faithfully on the Altar and Flower guilds for many years. Our mother adored flowers and her floral creations delighted her church family. She was also a tireless volunteer for the Tea Room and Meals on Wheels. Nancy was an avid golfer and bridge player and enjoyed playing at the Country Club of Charleston and in later years, at Snee Farm Country Club. Nancy was the epitome of a truly gracious southern lady. A gifted hostess, she always delighted her guests with the perfect table and floral centerpiece, amazing food, and engaging conversation with her gracious hospitality. She adored her family and took great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nancy is survived by her son, Robert K. Willms, Jr. (Rusty); daughter, Sallylee Willms Mansfield (Joe); grandchildren: Robert K. Willms III, Lucy Willms Sox (Kyle), Christopher T. Willms, Peter Ravenel Mansfield, JoLee Mansfield Massengill (Robbie); great-grandchildren: Cannon R. Willms, Sullivan Willms, Benjamin L. Sox, Anna Ravenel Mansfield, Joseph Wilder Mansfield, William Legare Mansfield, G Grayson Massengill and A. Davis Massengill. She was preceded in death by her husband William H. Brawley, former spouse, Robert K. (Pete) Williams, and great granddaughter Aveline Elise Sox (Avie). The family wishes to express gratitude to the Christ Church staff and members, Roper St. Frances Hospice and to all the wonderful nurses who took care of Mom over the past several months. We especially want to express our deepest heartfelt gratitude to Tess Yergin for her unceasing devotion and loving care of our wonderful, exceptional mother. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Christ Church Anglican Building Fund, 2304 North Highway 17, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29466. A private service will be held at Christ Church. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel.

I had the pleasure to meet Nancy 20 years ago at Snee Farm Country Club. What a fun gal she was! I always loved seeing her smiling face at the club, Christ Church tea room or volunteering at the Rice Planters golf tournament. Wishing her family peace during this difficult time.

I am so very sorry to hear of Nancy's passing. (We worked together on all the Christ Church blood drives when I was there. ) I always thought of Nancy as an angel on earth and she was that, to everyone there, with her warm greetings, and graciously entertaining others during waiting time. She was so loved. (And her brownies were legendary too)
May God give you comfort during this time.

Dear Rob and Sally,

I was sorry to see your Mother has left us to go on to her Eternal Life. I remember her as a vibrant and engaging person who embraced all she met. It matters not how old you are or they were...their absence is always present. I pray the myriad of wonderful memories will ease your sorrow.

I retired early and came home to care for Mom, and we had twelve great years spent together. Mom died in 2018, and there is not a passing day my thoughts are of her.

With love,
Barbara Stutler

Dear Sally!

So sorry for the passing of your mother. I enjoyed her so much over the years when she would come in to get her teeth cleaned. She was a very funny and special person. She always made me laugh.

Take care
