Nancy Willson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heartland Cremation & Burial Society - Greater Kansas City, Missouri - Rayt on Jul. 10, 2025.
Nancy Claire Willson was born in Kansas City, Mo at St. Mary's Hospital to Ronald E Current and Jane Harris Current on October 23, 1952 and passed away on July 3, 2025.
Nancy spent her early childhood in Kansas City, MO. She attended St. Gabriel's grade school, and a year at St. Pius X High school. Those early years were the best, she made lifetime friendships.
Her family moved to Indianapolis, IN, where she attended and graduated from Ben Davis High School. In her junior/senior years the school offered an Aviation class. Her dad working for the FAA triggered her interest. During her high school days she worked for Hub/Midwest airlines as a ticket and a customer service agent.
Nancy married Mark Willson in Overland Park, KS on 2-16-1974.
By the age of 20 she had travelled to Chicago, New York, Greece, South Africa, Rome, Spain, and France. About age 20 she was hired as Customer Service agent in the lost baggage department for American Airlines. Her airline experience led her to a career as a Corporate Customer Travel Agent/Adviser. She worked for Amax Coal company, in Indianapolis and in their Houston office. After 20 years she left, only because the company was sold.
Nancy and Mark moved to the Kansas City area to continue their aviation careers. Nancy worked for Lockton, and the Federal Reserve as a sub contractor. Then for Shook Hardy and Bacon, where she worked in their corporate travel Department. When Covid hit in 2020 she worked from home and then the department was downsized and Nancy elected to stay at home.
Nancy loved Disney and often visited the Parks on her own and with her family.
Mark worked in the Aviation industry- Ozark, TWA and US Air, so they traveled extensively. Hawaiian Islands, Germany, Arizona, California just to name a few. They often treated nephews, nieces, cousins and friend's children to fun events. Nancy was always young at heart. Funny, her song was "Born to be Wild". "Not".
Nancy leaves behind her sister Jan Dwyer(Don) and brother in law Doug Willson(Nida).
Those who preceded her include: her parents Ronald E Current, Jane Harris Current, her brother, Stephen A Current; her in-laws Paul and Mae Willson and brother-in-law Mike Willson.
She loved her nieces and nephews-Jeff Dwyer, Gary Dwyer(Deede), Shannon Boyes( Colby), Katie Current, Paul Willson(Stephanie), Collin Willson(Amanda). As the family grew, so did Nancy's love for each new generation, adding grand nieces, nephews and cousins.
She inherited her humor from her mother. Mark, her husband, also had a sense of humor. Often Nancy would laugh so hard telling a funny story-Mark would have to interpret. Nancy often said she and Mark shared a brain.
She kept her circle open and was constantly adding people to her list of friends. She laughed at herself and taught others to do the same. Other lessons learned, "agree to disagree", when something is offered," just say thank you". always buy in 3's, if you like it, a friend or two would like it too. She brought fun into our lives. Had a kind word for everyone, and had a way to make everyone feel important.
Nancy will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
