Nancy A. Wright, age 87, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Highland District Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on October 30, 1937, in Middletown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harlan and Beulah (Spicer) Deaton. Nancy dedicated 25 years of service to Robertshaw Controls Company, where she was a valued and hardworking employee. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Nancy had a special talent for gardening and took great pride in her beautiful flowers. She also loved baking and was especially known for her delicious pies. Above all, Nancy cherished the time spent with her family and grandchildren, creating memories that will live on in their hearts. She will be remembered for her warmth, her kindness, and the deep love she had for those closest to her.
Nancy is survived by her three children, Vickie (Chuck) Howell of Hillsboro, Debra (Gerold "Buzzard") Wilkin of Hillsboro, and Alan (Tammie) Elmore of Hillsboro; eleven grandchildren, Shawna Craft, Danielle (Caleb) Howard, Brandon (Allison) Howell, Josh Wilkin, John (Rachel) Clemons, Robert (Gennie) Clemons, Shane (Laura) Clemons, Steven (Shaylen) Gnau, Douglas (Trish) Wilkin, Thaddeus Wilkin, Thomas Wilkin, and 20 great grandchildren; one niece, Georgia Jordan; one nephew, James Deaton; four close friends, Marge Keaton, Gladys Elmore, Karen Miller, Pat Maggard, and many more friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Wright on November 24, 2015; a brother, Hezekiah Deaton; stepdaughter, Sherri Hafley; three grandchildren, Ryan Howell, Jimmy Peters, and Michael Peters.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 29, 2025, at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. following visitation at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery on Union Road in Belfast.
