Nancy Agatha Zecchin, age 90, of Kingsford, MI, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Optalis Health & Rehabilitation of Kingsford.
Nancy came into this world in the small town of Sagola, Michigan, on the 11th of March 1934. She may be better known as Nancy Dorfler. When Nancy was a young girl, her family moved to Kingsford, Michigan, in order to find more economic prosperity. Nancy grew up in Kingsford with her six siblings. She attended Kingsford High School and was a proud Flivver who graduated with her sister, Mary, in 1953.
After graduation Nancy and a classmate decided to move to the big city of Detroit, a daunting challenge for two young women in the 50's who had never ventured out of the area. But off they went, looking for new adventures and opportunities. Nancy and her friend, Betty, lived near Woodward and Cass Ave. and found work as secretaries in the automotive industry. It is there that she met her future husband, Ron, and with whom she would have two children, Todd and Kim.
Time went on and the marriage eventually ended, but Nancy stayed in the Detroit area where she would become a bookkeeper, a job that would allow her to make many various lifelong friendships that would follow her to the end. Nancy was a very social woman who enjoyed church gatherings and dances. Exercise was always a priority, and she kept her girlish figure for many years until life set in, as it does.
While Nancy spent most of her adult life in the Detroit area, it was never really home; her heart would always be in Kingsford, so on the 19th of November her children took great pains to move her Home: Home to where her heart was, Home to where her sister was, Home to where her roots were and her life began. Nancy spent the last evening of her life with her sister, Mary, in the place of their birth.
On Wednesday, 4 December 2024, the Anniversary of her fathers' birth, her Spirit Family welcomed her beautifully and peacefully into their waiting arms. May God Bless her Forever. Merry Christmas Mom.
The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.
