Nancy A. Zelmer

Nancy (Neel) Zelmer, age 91, of Canton passed away peacefully at Bethany Nursing Home on Sunday, March 16, 2025. Nancy was born June 5, 1933 in Canton Ohio to the late Howard and Margaret (Misch) Neel. Nancy graduated in 1951 from Timken Vocational High School where she was a majorette. After graduation, she was employed by Ohio Bell as an operator and eventually moved into supervision at Ameritech. Nancy was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church in Canton all her life. It was at First Lutheran that she met the love of her life, Edward Zelmer, and on June 26,1954 they were married, sharing 68 years together until his death in 2023.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward, her sisters Donna Zelmer and Patricia Linz, brothers-in-law Robert and Richard Zelmer and Howard Linz, sister-in-law Beverly Zelmer and nephew Mark Zelmer.
Nancy is survived by 9 nieces and nephews: Laurie, Erich (Lisa), and Jeff (Brandon) Zelmer; Michael (Tina), David (Amanda) and Ellen Linz; Beau (Rhonda) and Craig Zelmer; and Kim (Popper) Grimsley. She was also Aunt Nancy to 18 grand nieces and nephews and several great grand nieces and nephews.
Nancy's family would like to thank the staff at Bethany Nursing Home for the wonderful support and compassion shown her. Special thanks to Dr. Baum for her exceptional care.
Services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Arnold Funeral Home located at 4817 Cleveland Ave. NW with Pastor Diana Thompson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 until 11:30AM. Burial will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First Lutheran Church, 909 Tuscarawas St E, Canton 44707.
