Nannie Mae Thackston age 84 of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed from this life on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at the Cumberland Nursing & Rehab Center in Somerset, Kentucky.
She was born on February 10, 1941 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to the late Ventis Kidd and Dorothy Lois (Jones) Kidd. In addition to her parents, Nannie is preceded in death by her brothers, Howard and Harold Kidd; and a sister, Ruth Gabehart.
Surviving family include her daughters, Nannette Hoover of Gainesville, GA and Renee Brown (and James Prather) of Somerset, KY; grandchildren, Lori Burton, Mark Hoover, Dale Ball, and Lacy Ball; great-grandchildren, Caleb Hoover, Elijah Burton, Ethan Ball, Haygen Ball, Hoston Ball, Alley Ball, Aleah Hill, and Andrew Hampton.
Also surviving is her sister, Fayrene King Sharpton of Pine Knot; and special friends, Jim & Lois Neal, Gorman & Linda Bryant, and Jerry & Zedra Sears, whom she loved dearly.
Nannie was a devoted member of the Grace & Truth Tabernacle Church of God. She enjoyed going to church, serving the Lord, and participating in any events they had. In her younger days, she had taken part in factory work as well as operating and owning a jewelry store. Nannie enjoyed working word puzzles, sewing, and baking. But above all her hobbies, she loved nothing more than being with her family.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Pastor William Kilby officiating. Burial is to follow in the Kidd Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday morning after 11:00 am until service time.
