Naomi Jewell Barham

1940 - 2025

Naomi Jewell Barham, of Halfway, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on March 4, 1940, in Halfway, to Alva D. and Opal (Moore) Austin. She was united in marriage to Doyle Claud Barham, June 6, 1958, and to this union, one son was born. Naomi devoted her years to caring for her family and her church family, which is a testament to her enduring spirit and strong values. She was saved in October of 1959, and an active member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church throughout her life.
Naomi is remembered for her warm heart, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends. Her laughter filled the air during family gatherings, and her culinary skills were celebrated throughout the community, as she shared her love of cooking with those she cherished. She loved watching and supporting her grandson when he played sports and played his viola in the orchestra.
Naomi was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Doyle Barham; her parents; four brothers, John, Lawrence, Tommy, and Alvin "Buck" Austin; and two sisters, Gladys Summers and Carolina Todd.
Naomi is survived by her son Roy Barham and wife Tracy of Springfield; one grandson Jacob Barham of Springfield; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Family and friends will gather for a visitation at Pitts Chapel on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., providing an opportunity for shared memories and reflection on a remarkable life.
Naomi's legacy will be honored during a funeral service to be held at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, with Bro's Doyle Mayfield and Mike Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, where she will find her eternal rest.
