Naomi Barnes was born October 23, 1944 in Bossier City, Louisiana. She married the love of her life on June 1, 1961. She passed away January 8, 2026.
Naomi was an artist, a gardener, a friend, but most of all she was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was married to her "hubby" for 64 years. She always had a pot of coffee ready and a piece of cake or pie for anyone who visited and she always wanted to make you stay for a meal.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Cecil Barnes; her darling daughter, Janney Gordon and husband Mark Gordon, her son, Kirk Barnes; two granddaughters, Alex Gordon and Katie Horn, two grandsons, Kevin Barnes and Woody Barnes; one great grandson, Peyton Willis; and her sister, Sherry Bishop, her brother, Lyles LeDoux.
She is also survived by her "second" daughter, Nadine Whitsitt; her favorite nephew, Bubba Whitsitt, her other favorite nephew, Shawn Barnes, and her good looking nephew, Turner Barnes; her favorite sister-in-law, Jackie Barnes; her favorite niece, Stacey Ellis; her favorite cousin, R.C. Slocum (Go Aggies), cousin, David Glover and wife Jennifer, and Brenda Farr and husband Norman Farr.
She is preceded in death by her mom, Blanche LeDoux, her father, Buren Matthis, and her step father, Alivn LeDoux,; her in-laws, William Turner Barnes and Olga Hiawatha Barnes; her brother, Norvin Matthis; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Matthis, her brother-in-law, Robert Turner (RT) Barnes.
Naomi also had many others who thought of her as their second mom, She was loved by her brothers-in-law, Raymond Barnes and wife, Dorothy, Earnest Barnes and wife Sue; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends that are too many to name.
Family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Dorman-Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 8808 Highway 87 North Orange, Texas. Pastor Damon Bickham will be officiating. Internment to follow Autumn Oaks Memorial Park Orange, Texas.
Honoring Naomi as pallbearers are Bubba Whitsitt, Shawn Barnes, Turner Barnes, David Glover, Patrick Barks, and Eric Bingham.
