Naomi Alice Otomo Fagin, a luminous soul who brightened the lives of those fortunate enough to know her, departed from this world on December 4, 2025, at the age of fifty-six.
Born on January 29, 1969, the daughter of Kazuko and the late Yoshihiko Otomo, devoted sister, lovingly connected to her siblings; Mika, her husband Michael Pizzola; Yumi, her husband Sherry Brannan; and twin sister Fumi, her husband Kevin Kolalowski.
Naomi's deepest joy came from her role as an aunt, often speaking, Facetiming and texting with them. She always was there to listen, give advice and be the one to do the things that some parents may have found difficult. Often weaving stories and memories that would become cherished treasures. Her heart swelled further with the birth of her great nephew and niece, Adrian and Elora, who brought her unbounded happiness.
Naomi's talent to connect beyond immediate family created long lasting relationships with Uncle Isao and Aunt Yasuko Wakayama, Aunt Fusako, late Uncle Sadahiro Nishi. Her cousins, Mike and Helen Nishi, daughter Gillian. Hana and Chris Jacob, daughters, Ada & Emi. Uncles, aunts and cousins in Japan.
Each of these relationships was steeped in warmth and affection, a testament to the strong familial bonds that Naomi nurtured throughout her life. She never met a person that she did not like or could not talk to. Often connecting with them and giving them comfort, the last dollar or ounce of energy that Naomi had. She always put everyone else’s problems before hers often to the chagrin of family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Mitchel Fagin. Their partnership led them through many cruises and books, which they both had a passion for.
In her vibrant journey through life, Naomi touched countless hearts with her kindness, compassion, and inspiring spirit. She will be sorely missed, yet her memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter echoed, and the love fostered within her family and friends. As her loved ones gather to reflect on a life well-lived, they find solace in knowing that Naomi's legacy is woven into the fabric of their lives, forever guiding them with her enduring light. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
We welcome all who loved Naomi to join us in celebrating her life held at the Mangano Family Funeral Home in Deer Park, NY, on December 15, 2025, from 12:00–2:00 PM and 5:00–8:00 PM.
