Narciso Sablad Ponferrada

Reverend Narciso Sablad Ponferrada, popularly known as Father Pompi, was born in Guadalupe, Philippines on October 29, 1936 to Doroteo, Sr and Sofronia Ponferrada. He was the second child. His siblings were Doroteo, Jr, Zenaida and Rodolfo, Sr.

Father Pompi was very smart and always wanted to research anything that was of interest to him. Unlike other priests, he really spent time to prepare his homilies.

He studied at U.P. to take up medicine. He was there for one year only after realizing that he could not afford to be a medical doctor. He went to San Juan de Letran where he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Commerce majoring in management. His mother had a devotion to St. John Vianney and her prayers were answered when one day he surprised his mother by telling her that he wanted to be a priest. He was ordained on December 23, 1967.

His first priestly assignment was in Pandacan, Manila. Then, he was assigned as a chaplain at the Manila Jail. He came to US to take his Master Degree in penology which is the study of prisons management. For his exceptional service in the jail ministry Cardinal Jaime L. Sin gave him the honorary title of monsignor in 1990.

Fr. Pompi had been a faithful servant of the Lord. He had the charisma to bring his parishioners closer to Jesus and to the Blessed Virgin Mother. We have been very blessed to have him in our spiritual growth and development. Fr. Pompi keep praying for us as we relentlessly pray for you. Amen.
