Natalia (De Lurdes Goncalves Da Silva) Gaspar, 79, of Dracut, formerly of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7. She was the beloved wife of Jose Augusto Gaspar, with whom she shared more than 55 years of marriage.
Born on August 13, 1946, in Faial, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Goncalves DaSilva and the late Maria Amelia (Oliveria) Goncalves DaSilva. Raised in Faial, Natalia worked as a seamstress before marrying her husband, Jose, on May 7, 1970. Soon after, the couple relocated to the United States and settled in Lowell, where they built their family and community.
Natalia was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She spent more than 30 years employed first with Wang Laboratories and later with Advanced Polymers.
She will be remembered for her warm sense of humor and her devotion to family and friends. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening, and cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.
In addition to her husband, Jose, she is survived by her daughter, Lusa Auretto, and her husband, Paul, of Litchfield, NH; her son, Victor Gaspar, and his wife, Beth, of Lowell, MA; and her four grandchildren, Aiden Auretto of Litchfield, NH, and Payton, Jaxson, and Quin Gaspar, all of Lowell, MA. She also leaves behind three sisters: Maria Vieira of Lawrence, MA; Libia Goulart of Faial, Azores; and Eduina Garcia of Tewksbury, MA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, November 17, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 12 p.m. at St. Anthony Church, 893 Central Street, Lowell, MA. Burial will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery.
The family welcomes flowers or memorial donations in her name to: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA or to: Lowell General Cancer Center, Mansfield Building, 295 Varnum Ave 3rd floor, Lowell, MA 01854.
