     Nathan Michael Buchanan, 49, of Carmi, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on December 15, 1975, in Carmi, the son of Michael and Sharon (Woodrow) Buchanan. Nathan graduated from Fairfield High School in 1994. He married Shelly Cross on October 5, 2024, and she survives. Nathan proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Persian Gulf War. He worked in construction. Nathan was a member of the Carmi Elks. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and had a great sense of humor.

     In addition to his wife, Shelly Buchanan of Carmi, IL, Nathan is survived by his children, Morgan Buchanan, April (Zachary) Sprague, Marley Buchanan, Ariana (Channary) Hatch, Christopher Buchanan, McKenna Buchanan and Victoria Buchanan; seven grandchildren; siblings, Dawn (Michael) Major of Barnhill, IL. and Jacob Buchanan of Fairfield, IL; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kay (Ron) Pretzsch and Bill (Sherri) Cross; a grandmother-in-law, Bertha Cross; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, Bill and Carol Woodrow and Clarence "Buck" and Donna Buchanan. 

     A memorial service for Nathan Buchanan will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with full military rites. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Campbell funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Coins for Cancer and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home. Donations may also be mailed to 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL. 62821
