Nathan Butler Obituary
CINCINNATI — Nathan W. Butler Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio, age 90, passed away peacefully on Dec. 16, 2025.
He was born on March 15, 1935, in May's Lick to the late Nathan and Dorothy (Nee O'Rourke) Butler. Nathan was the oldest of seven siblings; the late Larry (Calma) Butler, Jerry (Velma) Butler, Dolores (the late Joe) Donovan, Donnie (the late Becky) Butler, Dickie (Ginny) Butler and Tom (Yutta) Butler.
Nathan lost his beloved wife Catherine Anne Butler of 67 years on Dec. 1, 2018. He is survived by his children; Mary (Chuck) Braig, Michael Butler, Susan (Pat) Tabler, Carol (Joe) Feldkamp, Theresa (Greg) Hammons, Laura (Tom) Varley, Stephanie (John) Mitchell and Emily (Andy) Venosa; 24 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Nathan graduated from Mayslick High School and attended University of Kentucky. He served in Korea in the mid 50's. Upon returning, he and Anne moved to Cincinnati to grow and raise their family.
Their Catholic Faith and Catholic education was extremely important to them. Their eight children all attended St. Mary School in Hyde Park. Their older daughters graduated from Marian High School, and Laura and Stephanie later graduated from Purcell Marian. Michael graduated from St. Xavier High School and Emily from Ursuline Academy.
Nathan and Anne were both very proud that their grandchildren also attend local area Catholic High Schools.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. immediately following by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., located St. Mary, 2845 Erie Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45208. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made to Otterbein Hospice.
