Nathan Castleman

This is from when Nathan was a teenager. Dad was away for the weekend, and he called to check in. He asked me if Nathan had taken the car. Not knowing Dad has specifically told Nathan he could not take the car, I said yes, he took it. Dad was angry and said Nathan needed to be punished for this. Dad told me to tell him he couldn't have the car again for the next two weeks.

So I got off the phone and when I saw Nathan next I told him about this. Nathan said, "Well I guess Dad wants to punish me, so I'll ask him for the car a lot so that he can say no.

Dad burst out laughing when I told him Nathan's response. Dad didn't always know what to do with Nathan, but he loved him deeply and was proud of how clever he was.
