Nathan R. Joy, 43, of Parkersburg, lost his courageous battle with cancer, on June 3, 2024, after almost six years.
He was a graduate from Parkersburg South High School. He played basketball in grade school and Jr High, as well as the Tri-C baseball fields. He worked for Rhodes Trucking for many years as a welder. He thought highly of the guys he worked with.
Nathan had the best sense of humor. Some of the things he would say or do would have you in tears from laughing. His prank calls to his dad and mom were the best. He loved hunting, fishing, and playing guitar. He took many trips to the mountains with family and friends; he and Sydney would go on weekends many times to camp and fish. They rode horses to the top of Seneca Rocks when she got older. He loved the mountains.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Sydney Joy, who he adored; father who he loved to hang out with, Warren Joy (Marion); mother, Robin Benson Joy; brother and buddy, Jeremy Joy (Ladawn); his niece, Lydia Joy; his nephew, Cole Joy; his grandfather that he learned a lot from, Robert Benson; his aunt, Terry Williamson (Wayne); many more aunts, uncles, and cousins; and he will especially be missed by his little buddy, a man's best friend, Duke.
He is also survived by his fiancé, Sheena Kyer. She was with him day and night through all the hospital stays and took care of him at home as well. Nathan's family is very grateful for all she did for him. Her sons Kyler and Holden, and daughter, Georgia, were also a big part of his life.
Nathan is reuniting with family in heaven; his grandmother, Patricia Benson; grandparents, Cecil and Carol Joy; an aunt, Sharon Fleak; and his great-grandparents.
He is at peace now; no more suffering. He fought hard to the end. No words will express how he will be missed.
Services will be held at 7:30 PM, Friday, June 7, 2024 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg. Family will accept visitors from 6:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg, is honored to serve the Joy family.
