Mr. Nathan Aster Love, 87, long time farmer in the Carters Creek Community, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at his residence on the Carters Creek Pike. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was born and raised in the Cathey's Creek Community, the son of John Richmond Nathan Love and Lillie Farris Love. In 1954 he moved to the Carters Creek Community to the farm where he lived for over 50 years. He attended Hampshire High School. Mr. Love was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who loved farming and raising and trading livestock. He enjoyed country music and in his younger years played music in different local areas. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Love was a member of Beech Grove Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Martha Pogue Love of Columbia; two sons, Gary (Carol) Love and Douglas Love both of Columbia; daughter, Betsy Love of Columbia; and granddaughter, Jennifer Love (Robert) Holton of Murfreesboro. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ross Love, Farris Love, Dinning Love and three sisters, Pauline Wiltshire, Octavia Phillips and Era Witherow. Pallbearers will be Ray Hutcherson, Robert Holton, David Poynor, Joe Roberson, Frank Curry, Larry Witherow and Lloyd Royce. Honorary pallbearers will be George Farris, Farris Storey, Gary White, Edward Jacobs and the men of Beech Grove Church of Christ. The family would like special thanks to go to Dr. Jamie Slandzicki, Dr. Belinda Bart and Hospice of the Highland Rim. Memorials may be made to Beech Grove Church of Christ Building Fund, P.O.
