Ned R. Ely age 83 of Amboy died Tuesday Nov. 8, 2022 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling. He was born Oct. 17, 1939 in Henry, IL the son of Olen and Hilda (Neuhalfan) Ely. Ned was a machinist at Henry Pratt Co. in Dixon for 43 years prior to his retirement in 2005. He was a member of St Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy, Amboy Lions Club, and the Mendota and Dixon Elks Clubs. Ned married Carol O'Sadnick Oct. 5, 1963 at St Mary Catholic Church in West Brooklyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gordon and Richard Ely, sisters Marjorie (Melvin) Leffelman and Mary Helen (Hubert) Leffelman. Ned is survived by his wife Carol, children Lori (Doug) Schrock of Amboy, Douglas (Deanne) Ely of Ft. Wayne, IN, Brian Ely of Amboy, Renee (Curt) O'Rourke of Amboy, Gary (Tina) Ely of Washington, IL, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, sister in law Karen Ely of Amboy and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday Nov. 12, 10;30 AM at St Patrick Catholic Church in Amboy with Rev. John Gow officiating. Burial will follow at St Patrick Cemetery in Maytown. Visitation will be on Friday Nov. 11, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. A memorial has been established. Arrangments by the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy.
