Neil Hope

I live in Australia and we grew up on Degrassi on the local ABC back in the 80's and 90's, I don't think there was a kid at the time that did not watch the show as it was very relatable at the time.

The friendship between the 3 main characters really resonated with my own circle of friends and I always saw myself as the "Wheels" character, tho not as cool, as I struggled with school, had glasses and was a bit of a troublemaker.

I'm now in my mid 40s and can still enjoy the show for nostalgia and just happened to look into the cast members again to see what they are all up to and only discovered this tragic news. Having friends of mine who struggled with mental issues and have lost that battle far too early it's an important point that sometimes people just need someone to reach out to them, even if they keep pushing people away. Sadly we are often "too busy" to manage it.

Rest in peace, Neil. I'm also a child of an alcoholic mother, as well as one myself. Currently I have 12 years of sobriety. Watching you on Degrassi Junior High in the late 80's helped me so much to not feel so all alone.

I was born in Toronto and grew up in Scarborough and Mississauga this show was such an influence on my childhood years I feel that Neil had a huge impact on many children's life and always will because people still watch it. The show and the cast will never be forgotten. Neil you did such an amazing job on the show and I commend you for working so hard and doing such an amazing show I hope you Rest In Peace you will forever be missed

I started watching this show during the 1980s. I just wanted to see what my 2 nieces were watching. As soon as I saw Wheels (Neil Hope), I was hooked into watching it. He was an excellent actor. Died far too young. R.I.P. Neil Hope

I watched this show when I was growing up. It's so sad an actor died at age 35. Neil Hope touched a lot of lives. He touched me too. I just found out myself he died in 2007 this year. It was heartbreaking and I cried about it. I kept on watching the degrassi shows that Neil Hope was on.

Hi, i'm a fan from Israel and when I was young back in the 80s I used to watched Degrassi and it helped me a lot.
In 1999 - until few years latter I had an old Neil Hope site and I took it down about a year ago and just now with approval from Neil's family I renew it at www.neil-hope.com, you can write a condolences in a guest book to his family and you see other details about me.

What a terribly sad event. I remember seeing him when they re-ran some footage here and there on PBS and Noggin (evening). My prayers are with his family and loved ones.
