t is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Neil Jurik, our beloved father, friend, and cherished member of the community, whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of all who knew him. Born in Charleroi, PA on December 6, 1940, to parents Pauline and Stephen Jurik, Neil lived a life filled with love, laughter, and deep connections to family and friends. He was known for his infectious smile, calm temperament, and a ready willingness to help those in need. Neil joined the U.S. Navy in 1960 and served proudly on the carrier USS Independence. Upon exiting the U.S. Navy, Neil became a Master Barber and has cut hair for generations of families. Being a barber was his passion, and clients travelled from all over to get their haircuts from him. He found joy in golfing and fishing and was a huge Washington Redskins fan. Neil is survived by his sons, Kevin of Huntingtown and Neil of Davidsonville; his daughter, Stephanie of Lothian; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Rebecca, and Lillian, and his great-grandson, Jake. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Diane, and parents, Pauline and Stephen Jurik. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate Neil's life on Wednesday, February 4 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, Maryland. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, February 5 at 11 am at Holy Family Church, 826 W Central Avenue, Davidsonville, Maryland. Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham on March 16, 2026 at 11:15 am. Neil will be deeply missed, treasured always, and never forgotten.
