Neil L. Tuttle age 73 of Farragut passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Preceded in death by: Parents, Frank & Lucille Tuttle; Brother, Jerry Tuttle. He was a member of First Baptist Concord. He was a lifelong resident of Knoxville and a 1954 graduate of South High School where he starred in football, basketball and baseball. In 1966 he founded Edison Electric and successfully operated it until retirement in 2003, He served as past President of the Alcoa Little League, coached Pee Wee football and was manager of the Trailways Softball team which won the Smoky Mountain Classic in 1973. In 1989, Neil was appointed by Governor Ned McWherter to serve on the Tennessee State Licensing Board where he served for 14 years, part of which he served as Chairman. In addition, he was a member of the East Tennessee Chapter of NECA, and was appointed Vice President in 1987, President in 1989, and Governor in 1991. In 1997 he was inducted into the Academy of Electrical Contractors, and in 2003 received the East Tennessee Chapter's Leadership Award, their highest honor. Neil was a member of the City Wide Sertoma Club for over 10 years, and an avid golfer. He loved and enjoyed his family, his friends and his life. Heavenly Father, please welcome him into your home. He was our father, husband, friend and inspiration. Survivors include: Wife, Carol Tuttle; Sons, Mark Steven Tuttle, Michael Steven Tuttle, and Terry Lee Tuttle; Daughters & Sons-in-law, Kelly & Joe Phillips, Kay & Gary Brewer, and Nancy & Clyde Revels; Stepdaughters, Kim Harris & Lisa Harris; Grandchildren, Whitney Tuttle, Stefanie Padgett, Steven Blume, Christopher Centorani, Kalen Tuttle; Great-Grandchildren, Taylor Padgett, Rylan Padgett, Ava Blume; Brother & Sister-in-law, Ronnie & Betsy Tuttle of VA; Sisters, Tona Brown of VA & Tina. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Monday, June 21, 2010 at Smith Trinity Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be sent to Open Arms Care, 7417 Kingston Pike, Suite 300, Knoxville, TN 37919; Juvenile Diabetes Association, 6701 Baum Drive, Suite 240, Knoxville, TN 37919; and The American Heart Association, 4708 Papermill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37909. Entombment will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Sherwood Mausoleum Chapel. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Monday, June 21, 2010 at Smith Trinity Chapel.
