Nelda Jean “Momo” McDaniel
October 12, 1948 – April 3, 2025
Nelda Jean “Momo” McDaniel, 76, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, in Midland, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Texhoma, Oklahoma, to Earl and Melba Archer, Nelda was raised in Spearman, Texas, where her spirited nature and love for family took root.
She was a devoted mother to Brandon McDaniel, Chance McDaniel and wife Kaci of Midland, and Shayla McDaniel and wife Allie of Grapevine. Nelda was not only a loving mother to her children but also a second mom to many of their friends. Her greatest joy came from being “Momo” to her grandchildren: Breuklyn Nivens and husband Jathan of Amarillo, Taylor McDaniel of Amarillo, and Branson, Barrett, and Paxton McDaniel of Midland.
Nelda is also survived by her sisters MaeDeen Reed of Sheridan, WY, and Katie Taylor of Lubbock; her sister-in-law Glenna Archer of Lubbock; and her brothers Gary Archer and wife Lavon of Pauls Valley, OK, Jimmy Archer and wife Nancy of Orange, TX, Glenn Archer of Las Vegas, NV, Donnie Archer and wife Doris of El Paso, TX, Robert Archer and wife Kimberly of Lubbock, and Kim Archer of Ruidoso, NM.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Brandon McDaniel, brothers Bill and Larry Archer, sister-in-law Sharla Archer, and brother-in-law Ray Taylor.
Nelda will be remembered for her quick wit, unwavering loyalty, endless snacks, and the fierce love she gave to all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in every laugh, hug, and story shared.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Combest Funeral Home Venue in Lubbock, Texas.
