Nella Z. Woodard

Nella Zocchi Woodard, 98, of Winchester, VA died, January 1, 2026 at home with her family by her side. She was dearly loved by her family, and was the "buttons that always held everything together."

Mrs. Woodard was born August 6, 1927 in Gimino, Italy; daughter of the late Mario and Emilia Zocchi. She was a home maker, and honorary member of First Baptist Church, Winchester, VA since September 1965.

She married Cornelius D. Woodard on July 24, 1948 in Trieste, Italy. He preceded her in death, May 3, 2007. He was the love of her life.

Mrs. Woodard is survived by her sons, Edward Cornelius Woodard of Roanoke, VA, Roland Mario Woodard of Richmond, VA and Dana Dawlson Woodard of Winchester; daughter, Allida W. Griffin of Winchester; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Along with her husband she is preceded in death by her brother, Albino Zocchi and one grandchild, Michael Woodard.

A funeral will be held Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 11:00 am at Jones Funeral Home in Winchester with Pastor Steve Melester officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Moomau, John Payne, Thomas Woodard, Eddie Woodard, Mario Woodard and Dana Woodard.
