Mrs. Nellie Ruth Hamm Love, 94, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Piedmont Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Edwards will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm Wednesday prior to the service.
Nellie was born on February 17, 1931, in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter to the late John Marvin Hamm and Pearl Mae Hull Hamm. A faithful member of Piedmont Baptist Church, she lived her life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to family. Nellie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, the heart of five generations and a guiding presence to all who knew her. Her children were truly her world, and she found her greatest joy in caring for them and those who followed. A devoted wife, Nellie and her beloved husband, James, celebrated 72 years of marriage on January 15th, a remarkable testament to their enduring love and commitment.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Evelyn, Aurella, Margaret, Lucille, Betty, and Mickey; and three brothers, John, Isaac, and Doug.
Nellie is survived by her husband, James Nolan Love; son, Johnny Love and wife Margie; daughter, Joy Amerson and husband Buddy; brother, Tony Hamm of Concord; three grandchildren, Mandy Ritchie and husband Bryan, Emily Kindley and husband Mark and Ashley Graham; seven great grandchildren, Malorie Bowers and husband Dustin, Kelsie Smith and husband Dylan, Lexie Ritchie, Maddie Mayo and husband Zach, Seth Kindley and Joseph and Jocelynn; and one great-great grandchild, Baker Mayo.
Memorials may be sent to Piedmont Baptist Church, 5870 Wright Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
