Nellie Pruitt Obituary
Nellie Boyd Pruitt, 78, lifelong resident of Columbia, died Monday, February 19, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her children.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Peery officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.
She was born on March 30, 1945 in Maury County to the late James Benton Boyd, Sr. and the late Elise Johnson Boyd. For many years she worked for the Daily Herald and then later worked as a crossing guard for Woodard Elementary School until 2023. She had several interests including cooking, watching cooking shows, avid NASCAR fan and especially spending time with her great grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Dugger; son, Billy Pruitt; grandson, Cody Dugger; three great grandchildren, Braelyn, Mia and Cullen; two brothers, Wendell Boyd (Gail), and Robert “Bob” Boyd; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Michelle Dugger; son in law, Roy Dugger, brother, Chief James “Bo” Boyd, Jr., and the father of her children, Walter “Pete” Pruitt.
Pallbearers will be Bill Doelle, Mark Runions, Cody Dugger, Jeff Boyd, Eddie Boyd, and Keith Remer.
