Mrs. Nellie Jo "Mama Jo" Taylor, 85, of Copeland, AL passed from this life Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Washington County Nursing Home in Chatom, AL surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Copeland, AL on Friday, September 6, 1940, to the late Sam and Angie McRae. She was a member of Silas First Baptist Church. She retired as a supervisor at Northern Electric Company.

Mrs. Taylor is preceded in death by her husband, T. J. Taylor; parents, Sam and Angie McRae; brother, Charlie McRae; two sisters, Bobbie Nell Gardner and Mattie Pearl Odom; grandson, Heath McLaughlin. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Taylor (Lisa) of Spanish Fort, AL; two daughters, Cindy McLaughlin (Keith) and Carol Kelly (James), all of Waynesboro, MS; sister, Ann Gatlin of Millry, AL; three grandchildren, Blake Kelly, Brady Kelly (Felicia), and Matt McLaughlin (Tonia); four great grandchildren, Brayton Kelly, Anna Jaye Kelly, Easton McLaughlin, and Avie Leigh McLaughlin; a special nephew that she loved as her own, Lance Taylor; a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation for Mrs. Taylor will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Monday, February 2, 2026, at Freeman Funeral Home, 1305 Skyland Drive, Waynesboro, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 2, 2026, at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, MS with Rev. Ronnie Morris officiating. Interment will be in Jones-Hill Cemetery in Millry, AL. Mrs. Taylor's family would like to thank the staff of Washington County Nursing Home for all the care and devotion shown to their mother for the past 5 years.
