Nelson L. Gee, 83, of Endicott, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024. Born on February 8, 1941; the son of the late Walter and Virginia (Redner) Gee; Nelson's life was marked by his unwavering kindness, selflessness, and an avid love for the New York Yankees.
Nelson is survived by his beloved wife Nancy (Mills) Gee, who he shared nearly 40 years of marriage with, his step-son Mylo Goff and his wife Michelle, who he loved like a daughter, and was Nelson's primary caregiver, as well as his step-daughters Louise Duvinski, Christine Goff, and Bonnie Goff, along with several grandchildren. He will also be missed by his brother-in-law and friend Stephen Mills, his sister-in-law Ann (David) Roberts, several nieces and nephews, including Ginger, Louise, Vera, and Leon, who held a special place in Nelson's heart.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Wayne Gee, Charles Gee, Robert Gee, and sister Charolette Gee.
A lifelong fan of the New York Yankees, Nelson's passion for baseball was evident to all who knew him. He treasured the memories created during the numerous games he attended at Yankee Stadium, cheering on his favorite team with the same enthusiasm he brought to every aspect of his life.
Family was the cornerstone of Nelson's world. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always putting their needs above his own. His gentle and soft-spoken nature was a comforting presence, and his actions continually reflected his deep love and commitment to his family.
Nelson's interests extended beyond the baseball diamond. He was an avid bowler, relishing the friendly competition and camaraderie of the game. His green thumb was apparent in the meticulous care he took of his flower gardens, with geraniums being his specialty. Their vibrant blooms were a testament to his patience and nurturing spirit.
An active man, Nelson found joy in the great outdoors, whether it was casting a line during a serene fishing trip or cultivating his garden. Nelson valued his physical fitness, exercising, swimming, and staying active, on an almost daily basis, in doing this he created special friendships with his proclaimed "Gym-Buddies," who will all greatly miss Nelson's presence.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Nelson will remember him as the epitome of a loving, kind, and selfless individual. He was the sort of person who would go out of his way to help others, never seeking recognition for his good deeds.
At Nelson's request there will be no funeral services, but rather a celebration of his life. All friends and family are invited to share memories and stories at The Relief Pitcher, 197 Conklin Ave., Binghamton, NY on Sunday August 25, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Memories and condolences can be shared in his guestbook at www.macphersonfh.com.
The family would like to thank the caring team from Lourdes' Hospice, including Hannah and her kind, soft, and gentle care of Nelson, Wendy for her dedication and special bond with Nelson, and Jessica for her softspoken, yet steadfast commitment to helping Nelson and his family. For this care we will remain forever grateful.
The family is under the caring assistance of MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley.
