Nelson Bowen Johnson

JOHNSON- Nelson "Shorty" Johnson, age 83, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away Monday December 29, 2025. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Gwinnett Memorial Park, Lawrenceville, GA. With Reverend James Grady officiating. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of service, craftsmanship, and laughter. A proud veteran, he served in the U.S. Army as an Artillery Communications Specialist, later becoming a lifetime member of VFW Post 5255. Following his military service, Shorty dedicated over 40 years to General Motors before his retirement. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor and a smile that never faded. Nelson is preceded in death by his wife Sarah Ann (Patton) Johnson, granddaughter Cheyenne Sauls, sister Reba Smith, sister Imogene Powell, brother Gerald Johnson, brother Thomas Johnson, brother James Johnson and parents Inez (Bowen) & Andy Johnson. He is survived by his son Jeff Johnson, daughter Debbie Sauls, grandson Cody (Chelsey) Sauls, sister Joyce Thomoson, sister Sandra Thompson, sister Carolyn Short, brother Maurice Johnson, sister-in-law Frances Johnson with many nieces and nephews.
