In Loving Memory of Nelson Rodriguez November 18, 1962 – November 3, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Nelson Rodriguez, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, who left this world on November 3, 2025. Nelson was born on November 18, 1962, and grew up in the vibrant community of Farragut, Brooklyn, New York. In 1983, he made the brave decision to move to Vermont in search of a better life - not knowing that he would forever change the lives of everyone he met simply by being himself.
Nelson was full of life, love, and laughter. He had an incredible ability to make others feel seen and valued, and his warm, welcoming spirit turned every place he entered into a home. Deeply proud of his Puerto Rican heritage, Nelson carried his culture in everything he did - through his music, his food, his laughter, and his love of family. A true lover of music and movement, he found joy in salsa dancing, where his energy and rhythm could light up the room.
He also had a deep passion for basketball, always cheering proudly for his favorite team, the New York Knicks. Whether he was dancing, watching a game, or spending time with those he loved most, Nelson lived with heart, humor, and happiness. His smile, his sense of humor, and his love for his family and friends were unmatched - and his presence brought comfort, laughter, and love to all who knew him.
Nelson's kindness, authenticity, and joyful soul left an everlasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He lived life with passion and purpose, reminding those around him to celebrate every day and cherish the people they love.
He is survived by his devoted sister Nelly Mendez; his loving nephews Marvin Escalera, Pedro Mejia, and Daniel Mejia; his adoring nieces Tiffany Sanchez and Crystal Diaz; his dear niece-in-law Elizabeth Escalera, and his beloved nephews-in-law Nelson Diaz and Wesley Sanchez. He also leaves behind his cherished great-nephews Marvin Escalera Jr., Jordan Escalera, and Julian Sanchez, along with his precious great-niece Isabella Sanchez.
Nelson's legacy of love and laughter will live on in their hearts forever. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will continue to dance among us - in every song, every laugh, and every shared memory. Nelson Rodriguez will be remembered always for the warmth he brought into this world, the pride he carried for his culture, and the love he left behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Stephen C. Gregory and Son Cremation Service, 472 Meadowland Drive, South Burlington, VT 05403. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, share stories, and honor the beautiful life Nelson lived.
