Nelson Shanks

Nelson, you offered me, as you put it, "on a silver platter". I was unable at the time to take your kind and gracious offer. The problem is, one thinks one has time. Time slips away. And now so to have you, a great man, a great artist. How I wish that I had had the time to study with you intimately as so many of your fortunate students did. I will miss you. The art world has lost a great artist and teacher who generously shared his work ethic and methods with others. I visited the school a few years ago and saw amazing work by his students. So sorry for your loss and hope you find peace.

We are deeply saddened to hear about Nelson. One of a kind, so generous, great teacher, painter and a wonderful sense of humor.

Although we have all known about the approaching time, it is so different once it is here.
