Nettie Bell Jones

Nettie B. Jones passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer May 11, 2009 at her home with family members at her side. Nettie was born October 5, 1922 in Athens Alabama, the second of eight children and twin sister to Lettie. She was raised in Alabama and married at a young age. She was blessed with five children before coming to CA to seek a more prosperous life. She was later blessed with another daughter to complete her family of 3 sons and 3 daughters. No one was ever more dedicated or diligent in their duties as a mother. Her children were truly her reason for existing. She was the true definition of the word "Mother". She will forever be remembered for her selfless dedication to her family. One of her greatest heartbreaks, in her later years, was the loss of her grandson Mark Jones. She was an avid gardener; a lifelong hobby that she undertook very seriously. She brought her knowledge of farming to her garden. You could always find her planting flowers and vegetables or cooking, canning and arranging beautiful bouquets for her table. She loved to grow and share the fruits of her labor. No visitors ever left her home without eating or taking something with them. Feeding people was what she did and not just at home. Nettie was a waitress in Salinas for 45 years. 34 of which she worked at the Pub and prior to that the Jeffery Hotel. She also loved to bet the horses and happily shared her betting tips with her numerous friends. Survivors: Sons Bill (Jacqui), Bobby (Georgia), David (Debra), Daughters Gayla Moyer, Sandra (Doyle) Burnett, Karla Renneberg. Grandsons Brent Jones, John Moyer, Garry Renneberg. Granddaughters Tamara (Mike) Biechman, Jennifer (Jeff) Rodgers, Carolyn (Steve) Coopersmith, Debbie Jones, Shahloh (Aaron) Mitchell, Stephanie (James) Titus, Jessie & Amanda Jones. Brothers Milton (Benita) and Virgil Holt of AL. Eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by father and mother Ervie & Zazell Holt, brothers Claudie & Eugene Holt, sisters Lettie Hargrove, Joyce Holt, Lilly May Hastings and grandson Mark Jones. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Cheri Frank & Ruby of Heartland Hospice for the compassionate and gentle care of our mother, it is deeply appreciated.
