Nettie Vickers, 89, of Louisburg, Kansas, a beacon of love and resilience, was born on July 15, 1936, in Fairfax, Oklahoma. She departed this world on November 26, 2025, surrounded by the warmth of her cherished memories the legacy of her unwavering spirit.

Growing up in Fairfax, Nettie was nurtured in the heart of Oklahoma, where she first developed her strong faith that would guide her throughout her life. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School until the sixth grade, before graduating from Fairfax High School. Her thirst for knowledge and passion for science led her to Sacred Heart College in Wichita, Kansas, where she proudly earned a Bachelor's degree in science. Her academic achievements paved the way for a fulfilling career; she began her journey as a chemist at MD Anderson Hospital, later contributing her talents to the Department of Welfare in Wichita and ultimately in Paola, Kansas.

In her personal life, Nettie's heart found its home when she married her beloved husband, John Vickers, on May 10, 1969, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fairfax. Together, they cultivated a life filled with shared dreams and hard work, taking to farming as a symbol of their enduring partnership and commitment to one another. The couple lived in Louisburg, Kansas, where they farmed together.

Nettie’s creative spirit radiated through her many hobbies. She was a gifted artist, skilled in crafting, painting, ceramics, and drawing. Her artistry not only reflected her individuality but also brought joy to those around her. As a dedicated member of the Altar Society at Immaculate Conception in Louisburg, her contributions resonated deeply within her community, where she embraced the chance to give back and spread her faith.

Nettie's legacy is fortified by her strength, faith, and kindness—qualities that will permeate the hearts of those who were privileged to know her. She reunites in peace with her parents, Alex Tall Chief, III and Juanita Tall Chief, and her siblings, Elizabeth Tall Chief, Patricia Marshall, and Alex Tall Chief, IV, whose absence she has felt so profoundly.

She leaves behind her loving husband, John Vickers, who will carry her memory forward, cherishing each moment they shared. Nettie will forever be remembered not only for her accomplishments and artistic talents but for the deep love and light she shared with everyone who crossed her path. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all she touched, reminding us of the beauty of faith, family, and unwavering love.

Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 606 S Elm Street, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. Visitation will follow at 10:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am. Burial will follow mass at the Paola Cemetery.
