It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Neva Jo Kampfer, who passed peacefully on April 14, 2024. She was 85 years old.
Born Neva Jo Wilbourn on January 24, 1939, in Turkey, Texas, she was affectionately known to her family as Sally. She married Gary Kampfer on December 31,1965. A loving wife, mother, aunt, great-aunt, and great-great aunt, Neva's unyielding loyalty to her family was only matched by her unwavering faith.
Neva was an extraordinarily creative lady; her artistic talents shining through in every aspect of her life. From the creative artwork the tiny painted details on her furniture in her home, to her innate talent for decorating, she had a remarkable eye for detail that made her surroundings as vibrant as her personality. Neva was never happier than when she was engrossed in her artistry, except perhaps when she was surrounded by her loving family, whom she cherished above all else. Her nurturing spirit, her fierce loyalty, and her genuine love will remain etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Neva is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Kampfer, her loving children, Kisa Kampfer and Kirt Kampfer, her sister-in-law, Sue Wilbourn, her nieces and nephews, Phyllis and Joel Shepard, Jacalyn and Jeff Spain, Mary Anne Srubar, Sheila Elam, Johnna Popper, Danny Wilbourn, Cheryl and Alex Glovsky, Miriam and John Easton, James and LeeAnn Kampfer, her great-nieces and nephews, Liesl Shepard, Taylor Elam, Michael and Sara Spain, Amanda Kinney, Kelli and Colby Johnson, Jerret and Lindsey Wilbourn, Brant and Ashly Wilbourn, Will Glovsky, Nick Glovsky, Anna Easton, Eve Easton, Greyson Kampfer, Trey Kampfer, Mason Kampfer, Emma Wilbourn, and her great-great nieces and nephews, Cullen Spain, Carter Spain, Ellie Wilbourn, Grady Wilbourn, Meyer Johnson, Alyssa Elam, Maren Johnson, and Gage Wilbourn. She is preceded in death by her parents, Emma and William Wilbourn, her sisters and brothers, Edith Clements, Wilmoth Bellamy, Dorothy Frantz, Lois Rice, John Wilbourn, and Wayne Wilbourn, and her niece and nephews, Robert Bellamy, Becky (Lynne) Brown, and Jerry Wilbourn, and her great-nephew, Micah Shepard.
A memorial service to celebrate Neva's life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Marvin Methodist Chapel, 300 W. Erwin, Tyler, Texas, 75207.
"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him" (Psalm 28:7). In the spirit of Neva's creative legacy, we invite you to bring a memory or a story to share, a testament to her vibrant life and her profound impact on those around her.
