In the heart of Tucson, Arizona, a bright light was extinguished with the passing of Nevaeh Angelica Cañez, affectionately known as "Pitufa." Born on August 13, 2018, she brought joy and wonder to the world from her very first breath. Tragically, this spirited soul left us too soon on September 11, 2025, leaving behind a tapestry of memories woven with love, laughter, and unyielding curiosity.
Nevaeh was a second grader at Hollinger Elementary School, where her inquisitive spirit shone brightly. A little foodie at heart, she delighted in sharing meals, experiences, and laughter with those around her. Her vibrant personality made her a beacon of warmth; friendships bloomed effortlessly wherever she ventured. With an intellect that belied her tender years, Nevaeh was not only smart but wise, more attuned to the wonders of life than many adults. She embraced every moment, eager to explore the world through her love of outdoor play, swimming, and her playful ventures into the realm of Tik Tok and makeup.
A protective little sister, Nevaeh watched over her older brothers with a fierce and loving heart, while simultaneously cherishing the bond she shared with her cousins. She carried within her an innocent fascination with nature's dramatic elements, often dreaming of captivating tornadoes. A little tornado chaser at heart, she was wrapped in the thrill of life’s adventures.
Nevaeh’s family and friends will forever hold her spirit close: her mother, Sara Canez; siblings Dayton Felix, Jose Felix, Anthony Salazar, Giovanni Canez, Adrian Canez, and her cherished sister, Danitza Felix. The love of her maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Francis and Gonzalo Salcido, nurtured her vibrant life alongside her younger nieces, Artemiza Felix and Annalysia Felix. Her aunts and uncles, Margarita Canez, Lissandra Salcido, Juan Canez, and Jesus Canez, as well as countless cousins, extended family members, and friends, will carry her laughter in their hearts.
Nevaeh was greeted in the eternal embrace of love by her brother, Angel Canez, whom she will be reunited with once again. Their shared bond, though interrupted by the realities of time, will surely illuminate the pathways of their souls.
Her Visitation will be held on September 25, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Martinez Funeral Chapels - Tucson, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Mass celebrating her beautiful spirit will take place at Santa Cruz Catholic Church on September 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by her burial at Holy Hope Cemetery at 11:30 AM.
Though her physical presence may have faded, the spirit of Nevaeh Angelica Cañez, her wonder, love, and joy will echo through the memories held dear by those who loved her. She leaves behind a legacy that will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
