On March 24, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones, Nicanor Solorzano Quispe, at the age of 98, passed into the presence of the Lord and was reunited with his beloved wife, Gloria Navarro de Solorzano, whom he deeply missed.
Papa-Nico, or Papaito as his loved ones called him, was born on March 20, 1928, in the town of Tapo, Tarma, Junín, Peru. In his younger years, he worked at the La Oroya smelter. He later moved to Lima, where he worked independently.
Papa-Nico emigrated to the United States in the 1990s, where he worked in the housekeeping department (EVS) at Bally’s Casino. He retired from there, leaving behind many good friends. Papa-Nico loved to travel and explore new places around the world. He also led by example, always helping those in need and striving to keep his family as united as possible.
Papa-Nico now rests in peace alongside his beloved wife Gloria; his eldest son, Pablo (survived by his wife, Maria); and his grandmothers, Teresa Navarro and Genara Alliaga, whom he always missed and spoke of often. He is survived by his eight beloved children: Hermelinda (Adolfo), David (Ninfa), Marcela, Carlos (Sandy), Nicanor (Julia), Hubert (Lorena), Raul (Mary), and Christian (Tanya), as well as 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Rest in peace, Papa-Nico. We will remember you forever and remain united.
