Nicholas R. DiMarco, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully at home on May 1, 2023, his beloved wife of 52 years, Kathleen DiMarco (nee McGinniss) and daughter Julie by his side.
Nick, as he was known, was born on June 17, 1949, in Camden, NJ, and was a lifelong resident of Gloucester Township, NJ. He was the firstborn son of Margaret (nee Ludwig) and Nicholas DiMarco, Sr.
Always a sports lover, he played football and ran track at Triton High School, where he met Kathleen. The high school sweethearts were married four years later and built a beautiful life and family together.
Nick passed his love of sports and his athleticism on to the next generations. He coached his daughter Julie's youth soccer teams and was her biggest fan in all her endeavors, on the field and off. In later years he never missed a chance to cheer on Josh and Jessica, his cherished grandchildren, at their games. Like all good South Jersey natives, he was also an avid supporter of the Eagles and Phillies.
An electrician by trade, Nick began his career at the U.S. Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia. He went on to work as an electrical planner/estimator at the Willow Grove Naval Air Station in Willow Grove, PA, where he retired in 2008. His technical skills also made him a talented handyman, and he was known to fix any household item with ease. He was skilled at working on cars and would spend hours happily tending to his beloved Corvette.
In his spare time, he would also often be found on his boat. He enjoyed fishing, water sports with his daughter, and many outings with family and friends on the water in Cape May. He loved listening to bands and caring for his koi fish. Above all else, he loved his family. He was immensely proud of his daughter and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Along with his wife Kathleen, daughter Julie Steward (Jaime) and dear grandchildren Josh and Jessica, he is survived by his brother Jeffrey. Nick was predeceased by his parents.
Viewing will be Monday, May 8, 2023, from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM at Our Lady of Hope Parish / St. Agnes Church, 701 Little Gloucester Road, Blackwood, NJ 08012, where his Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Dravet Syndrome Foundation (P.O. Box 3026 Cherry Hill, NJ 08034 or www.dravetfoundation.org).
