Nicholas Fernandez Obituary
Nick Fernandez, a loving father, husband, son and brother, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on February 20, 2024, at the age of 50.
Born in North Canton on February 14, 1974, to Tony and Carolyn Fernandez, Nick brought love and laughter into the lives of all who knew him. He graduated from North Canton Hoover High School and went on to achieve his undergraduate degree from Kent State University and MBA from Case Western University.
Nick spent his career at FirstEnergy, where his quick wit led him to his loving wife, Emily, and a lifetime of playful banter. Throughout his tenure at the company, Nick made many long-lasting friendships.
Beyond his successful career, Nick found a true love and devoted partner in Emily, his wife of thirteen years. Together, Nick and Emily built a beautiful family, raising their three children: Ellison, Sam, and Max. Nick was an avid Ohio sports fan, always ready to watch a game. If you came over to join, you'd find traditional stadium fare: pizza, chicken wings, and hot dogs (straight off the roller preferred). The Fernandez house was and will continue to be a place filled with family, friends, love, and laughter - a testament to Nick's vibrant spirit and enduring legacy.
Nick was preceded in death by his partner-in-crime and dear father-in-law, Tim Ochsenhirt; mother-in-law, Nancy Ochsenhirt; and grandparents, Anthony and Rose Fernandez, and Camille and Christine Ross.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Emily (Ochsenhirt); children, Ellison, Sam, and Max; parents, Tony and Carolyn Fernandez; brothers, Tony (Michelle) and Jim (Adrienne); and in-laws, Heidi and Adam Christmann, Kristen and Elliot Hujarski, and Matthew Ochsenhirt. Uncle Nick will be greatly missed by his biggest fans: his 12 nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Monday, 4-7pm at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, Ohio 44321. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 164 W. Market St. Akron.
