Nicholas Laureys Obituary

Nicholas Stanley "Nick" Laureys, affectionately known by those who loved him as a shining light of loving, kindness, left this world far too soon on July 2, 2025, in his hometown of Crystal Lake, IL. Born on July 24, 2009, to the proud parents of Jill and Leon Laureys, Nick's 15 years of life were marked by an adventurous spirit, a passionate heart, and a devotion to his family that knew no bounds.
Nick's journey began in Crystal Lake, where he grew into a young man of exceptional character. Known for his politeness and sunny disposition, he was the eldest of three sons and took his role as a big brother seriously. He was a guiding light to his younger brothers, Chris and Sam, teaching them everything from the basics of ATV repairs to the simple joys of childhood play. His protective spirit was a testament to his deep love for his family, extending beyond his immediate household to his uncle and guardian, Lance Laureys, with whom he shared countless hours of getting their hands dirty in the true spirit of camaraderie.
A natural-born explorer and tinkerer, Nick's curiosity was boundless. His hands were often busy dismantling engines or piecing together new projects, a reflection of his love for understanding how things worked. His hobbies were as varied as his interests, ranging from shooting hoops with neighborhood friends to gaming and practicing golf. His enthusiasm for life was infectious, and he was eagerly anticipating the new friendships and experiences that would come with transferring to Prairie Ridge High School in the autumn.
Nick's generosity and sincerity touched every life he encountered. His legacy is one of kindness, craftsmanship, and the carefree joy of youth. He was a young man who lived his life with an open heart, always ready to lend a hand or share a smile. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to build, care for, and cherish one another with the same fervor he demonstrated in his own life.
As we remember Nick, we are reminded that his time with us, though brief, was a gift. His impact will endure in the hearts and minds of his beloved father, Leon, his caring uncle, Lance, his devoted brothers, Chris and Sam, his mother, Jill, and the wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family who will miss him dearly. The community of Crystal Lake and Woodstock will fondly recall a young man whose presence made their world a brighter place.
The visitation for Nicholas Stanley Laureys will be held on July 25th at 10 am to 1:00 pm and funeral service to follow at Justen's Funeral Home, 3700 Charles J Miller Memorial Hwy, McHenry, IL 60050. The Interment will be at Ringwood Cemetery, Ringwood IL. Messages of condolence may be shared on his tribute wall. As we bid farewell to Nick, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit will forever roam the fields and streets of Crystal Lake, a reminder of a life lived fully, if not long enough.
