Nicholas Martin Liechty of Leitchfield, KY, age 46, passed away on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024, at U of L Heart Hospital in Louisville.
Born in Louisville to Dale and Anne (Martin) Liechty, he was an Enterprise Cloud Architect for Oracle.
Nick is survived by his wife, Suni Liechty; his parents, Dale and Anne; his sister, Abby Malone; his beloved nieces and nephews, Max, McKinley, Hayden, William, Eli, Bennett, Georgia, and Ava; and his fur babies, Smokey and Bandit.
Nick loved his wife, his family, and his widespread community of friends. He was our gentle, kind, loving bear and was famous for his great hugs. A hug from "Big Nick" made your whole day better.
He and his wife Suni were to celebrate their 24th wedding anniversary this October. They shared a love of each other, music, their dogs, and all things Disney.
Nick has been listening to music since he was a toddler and developed very eclectic tastes. You never saw Nick without his earbuds in or music playing wherever he was. He could name any tune and tell you the history of the artist. He made close friends all over the world as they connected through music, and he constantly traveled to concerts by his favorite bands.
He grew up fishing with his grandpa, and kept that love of the lake as an adult. He and Suni built a house on Nolin Lake where he was known as "Captain Nick" to his family and friends. He loved to boat, swim, and hang out on their Tiki Room porch. No one looked better in a Hawaiian shirt than Nick.
Nick loved time with his family. Whether it was playing board games with his sister Abby, listening to music with his mom Anne, or attending NASCAR races with his dad, Dale. He loved all the time he could get with them.
His job was with Oracle, but he was also the unpaid computer consultant for his entire extended family. Regardless of how many times we reached out to him, he was always there with a smile and an answer.
He was a beloved husband, loving son, protective big brother, fun uncle, and a wonderful friend to all who knew him. Nick was an exceptional person and he will be so missed by all who met and loved him.
His memorial visitation will be from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., Louisville, KY 40205.

Nick always impressed me with what a great guy he was. Always kind and genuine like his Mother. Always a smile on his face. Recently Anne had a group of ladies at her lake house for the weekend and he made himself available to captain the boat for the day and have fun with us. What a loving son to make time for his Mom and her friends in that way. My heart goes out to his entire family to lift them up and give them strength during this very difficult time.

My first memory of Nick was him stepping on my glasses at the Whitewater Tavern. It was funny because he was so apologetic, I couldn't help but like him. It was always an absolute pleasure to be in his company. He will be missed.

Our favorite memory of Nick was at Anne´s lake house where we had an amazing meal cooked by Nick and Suni followed by lots of board games and laughs!! He had such a kind heart and was always there to help others, especially his mother Anne. We had the honor of spending time with Nick, Suni and Anne during Derby week. I am so grateful we captured a picture. Suni, Anne, Abby and the rest of the family we are deeply saddened by Nick´s passing and we are sending lots of prayers to comfort you during this difficult time.

Nick always had a smile on his face. I have many memories of playing board games, lake house get togethers, chatting at the dock, and kind things he did to help with anything you needed. I am blessed to have him as a friend. He will be greatly missed!
