Mr. Nicholas Longo

Nicholas (Nick) Dominick Longo April 16th, 1936 – April 11th 2011 Nick, more lovingly known as “Dad�, “Grandpa� and “GG Pop�, passed peacefully into heaven on April 11th, 2011 after a tough battle with cancer. The loving patriarch of the Longo family is survived by his wife Barbara and four generations: three sons, Chris and his wife Carla, Steven, Michael and his only daughter, Alisa (Longo) Cutter and her husband Bill. Nick has a sister Mary Lou Longo of CT and younger brother John Longo of MA. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Timi (Longo) Cornell and her husband Bryan, Lindsay, Carly, and Michael Longo. His great-grandchildren, Isabella and Isaiah Longo were the lights of his life and they will miss their GG Pop dearly. Nick was blessed with more close friends than most people meet in a lifetime. Nick was a Connecticut State Trooper who finished the last 10 years of a distinguished career in the K-9 corp with his trusted partner Jero. - one of the largest German Shepherds on the force at that time. Nick was also a member of the CT Air National Guard, where he served the people of CT and the US with integrity, pride and honor. Nick was a 50+ year resident of Connecticut (Enfield & Suffield). He and his wife Barbara happily moved south to palm trees, sunshine and golf in Ormond Beach, FL where they retired in the late 1980s. In the following years, Nick and Barbara moved to Spring Hill, FL to be closer to his family, sons Chris and Michael and their families—his pride and joy! He reminded his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren often how proud he was of them and how big a part of his life they were. Nick always enjoyed a good round of golf with his son and granddaughter. Nick had a never-ending sense of humor and was always up for making his family laugh. He was a constant prankster. His most recent passion was his Honda Goldwing motorcycle. He and his wife enjoyed going out for runs with his local Goldwing club and he cared for his bike like a teenager caring for his first car. Nick’s personality was larger than life and he impacted every person he met. There is not enough love in this world that describes how much he is adored and cherished by his family. He will be missed but never forgotten as we all have a part of him in our hearts that will never go away.
