Nicholas G. "Nick" Noppert, age 87, of Coopersville passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at Corewell Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was born April 19, 1936, in Elkhart, Indiana to Richard and Helen (Waugh) Noppert. On June 19, 1964, he married Janet Renger, she preceded him in death on December 5, 2021.
Nick was a founding member of Emmanuel Free Church. He farmed and hauled milk and worked for the City of Grand Rapids for fifteen years as a mechanic. In 1984, Nick bought St. John Truck & Trailer Service and continued to grow the business until his retirement in 2018, at the age of 81.
He was known for his honesty and integrity. Nick enjoyed hunting trips out west and to Canada. He spent several years traveling with his wife in their motorhome, and wintering in Florida for a few years. In his retirement years, he especially liked working on his tractors and equipment and beautifying his property. He was a strong man with a quiet faith that touched many lives. Nick was genuine, hardworking and faithful.
He is lovingly remembered by his two children, Jennifer (Ralph) Boles and Brian (Heidi) Noppert; four grandchildren: Dylan (Megan) Kolberg, Blake (Jessica) Kolberg, Aaron Noppert and Connor Noppert; two great-grandchildren, JoAnna and Isaac; and his niece Karen (Greg) Tibbitts. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Noppert, his sister, Johanna Dinneen, and brother-in-law, Dick Dinneen.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Emmanuel Free Church, 17737 West Spring Lake Road, Spring Lake, MI 49456, with Pastor Justin Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, March 22, at church, and one hour prior to the service at church.
Memorial contributions in memory of Nick may be given to Emmanuel Free Church. Arrangements entrusted to The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services 213 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake, MI 49456.
