Mr. Spano,
I am sorry that you passed away. My 9th grade year the first part of that year I didn't know people that well. In Math class Algebra when I had you at Kennedy you also made math discussions with the stats involving Eric Bolland the radio announcer for sports from Gary Barbers success at Girard and Harding too taking him to coaching in another part of Ohio. You introduced me to Sean Pompelia and he had me do the JV Boys statistician and thats what broke me out of the shyness I was in and that type of confidence led to playing baseball at the end of that year. I was very blessed at the end of 9th grade when I got the Math award, had you for study hall, then moving forward I became real popular to come. I really liked at the basketball games you video taped the games and Joe and Ted were known as the twin towers comparing to David Robinson and Tim Duncan. I had you the last part of my Senior year before graduation after Football season was over. My regards go to your wife, sons Joe and Ted, grandchildren, your sister and niece and Mr. Spano now that your gone by all means Rest In Peace.

I first met Nick as a freshman at Warren JFK. Later we became fraternity brothers (Sig EP) at Kent. Many good memories and lots of laughs... Rest In Peace `Big Nick´. My condolences to the family. Jim Cickelli

I met Nick in 1969 at Kent State University where we were "next door neighbors" in the Clark Hall dormitory our freshman year. We immediately became good friends. We later joined Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity together and remained good friends ever since. Nick was one of the most sincere, most outgoing and nicest guys I've ever known...and DEFINITELY one of the funniest. Sadly, we didn't get to see each other too often because of the distance between us (I'm in Cincinnati) but whenever we did, the jokes flowed freely. I'll miss Nick and remember him always as one of my truly great friends.
