Nick Thomas Portacci Graveside services for Nick Thomas Portacci, 80, of Port Arthur, Texas, Beloved Father, Grandfather and Husband, will be 2 pm Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Bowden officiating under direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Pallbearers will be Kristopher Portacci, Shawn Harkey, Vincent Portacci, Adam Portacci, Samuel Portacci, David Sonnier and Nick Portacci. A reception will follow services a New Beginnings Baptist Church located at 2137 E. George Richey Road, Longview. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening July 6, 2012 from 6 until 8 PM. He was born February 26, 1932 in Galveston, TX. He had been a Port Arthur resident since 1964. He died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in Port Arthur, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Iris Jerlene Portacci and their six children; Dr. Mark Portacci and Teresa Keefer of Monroe, LA, Susie and Gerald Hebert of Beaumont, TX, Kathy and Donald Harkey of The Woodlands, TX, Michael and Paula Portacci of Brentwood, TN, Mathiew and Dana Portacci of Bridge City, TX, Kristy and Matt Pinkston of Magnolia, TX and one niece, Stephanie Mattes of Hitchcock, TX. 18 Grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 2 beloved pets. The family would like to express special thanks for all the care, kindness, comfort and support from the excellent staff of doctors, nurses and attendants at Medical Center of S.E. Texas. You treated our father and family with respect and dignity. In particular we want to recognize Drs Percenti, Buheis, Rao, Miller, Weatherford, Udonte and Rice who worked tirelessly by his side through his journey. We would like to recognize the Odyssey Hospice team for providing such an uplifting, caring environment. To all our friends and family, your prayers and kind words supported and comforted us more than words can express. And special thanks to his loving caretaker, Lea Molina.
