I was lucky enough to have Professor Apgar as an art student at VCU. His class was interesting; he introduced us to old movies as great examples of art. He made the class an unforgettable experience.

Nancy and Jon..I'm not sure you will remember me..I am Peggy Murray Rosamilia. I believe we grew up together on Locust Avenue, Troy many years ago. when I read about your dad's passing it brought back so many fond memories of the old neighborhood. Please accept my deepest condolences on his passing. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Peg

At VCU, Nic opened my eyes to color, and the world was never the same. I think of him whenever I pick up a brush.
His friendship was also precious, and conversation with Nic, was always an adventure.

Oh - I'm so very sorry to hear of Nick's passing!! He was such a joy to know while I worked 20 yrs in the School of the Arts at VCU. I never had the opportunity to work with him, but know the respect in which he was held by his peers and students. I also clearly remember how hard he took his wife's passing. That affected him for many years. Sleep well Nick. You had a very good life abeit with losses. They only made you that much stronger.

Mr. Apgar was without a doubt my favorite instructor in Foundation classes at VCU. He made me open my mind to new ideas and every class was a delight. I am happy to hear that he was working so late in life! He is an inspiration.
