Nicolas Alexander Florio

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Nicolas Alexander Florio, age 17, who departed this life on December 22, 2025, following a tragic motorcycle accident on December 19 while returning home from his high school midterms. His passing was sudden and heartbreaking, and his family remained by his side for days, holding onto hope and love until every possibility had been exhausted. In the end, and in his final act of kindness, Nicolas became a hero by giving the gift of life to others.

Nico was a senior at Cypress Bay High School, where he thrived in the ROTC program. A natural-born leader with a magnetic personality, he inspired his fellow cadets with his confidence, humor, and heart. He had long dreamed of becoming a United States Marine - a path he had been preparing for since childhood. After scoring exceptionally high on his ASVAB, he planned to enlist after graduation, beginning with airframe mechanics before moving into counterintelligence. He was immensely proud of this future, and everyone who knew him was proud of him too.

Nico grew up in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, where his love of the outdoors and his natural leadership flourished. He and his mother were inseparable; she was always present at his school, his activities, and his milestones, simply because she loved being near him. Their bond was the center of both their worlds.

Nico was a force of nature - a mix of Crocodile Dundee and Dennis the Menace, with a wild spirit, a sharp mind, and a heart as big as the sky. He was adventurous, outdoorsy, and wise beyond his years. He loved mechanics and fast cars, spending countless hours working on his motorcycle with his stepdad and his Mustang with his dad. He was a regular at car and bike meets, and joined a bike club, whose members became like family. They gathered almost every night, and later rode in his honor during his final walk - a powerful tribute to the bond they shared.

Nicolas was also a young man of extraordinary kindness. He loved everyone - truly everyone - of any and all walks of life. Didn't matter who you were, didn't judge, Nico wanted to be your friend. He would literally give you the shirt off his back, and often did - he just wanted to make people happy.

He loved spending time with family and friends and was always up for anything - Sunday family gatherings, weekend sleepovers with the guys, shopping with the girls, or singing karaoke at Uncle Al's. He even invited his friends to help make hallacas, a cherished Christmas family tradition. Nico didn't just enjoy being around people - he made people feel like they belonged.

Hardworking and determined, Nicolas held jobs from the age of 14. His most recent position was at Chili's near his school, where he worked as both a cook and a server, where he quickly became a favorite. His coworkers loved him deeply.

On the day of his Honor Walk, hundreds of people - family, friends, classmates, coworkers, community members, and fellow riders - lined the halls to pay tribute to the impact he made in just 17 years. Their presence was a testament to the love he inspired and the lives he touched.

In keeping with the family's wishes, Nicolas' Honor Walk served as the moment for loved ones to say goodbye while he was still physically present. No additional service is planned at this time.

Nico leaves behind a legacy of courage, loyalty, humor, and heart. He lived boldly, loved fiercely, and led naturally. Though his time was far too short, the imprint he left on his family, friends, and community will endure forever.
