Nicole "Nikki" Ruth Parks Slaughter, 63, of Fayetteville, WV left for her eternal home on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Taking no suitcase or earthly possessions with her, she smiled at those she left behind an said "The only request I now have of you is that you meet me there one day."
Nicole's first birth took place at Richmond, VA. on June 12, 1962. Her second (and most meaningful), was on May 19, 1980 at Maynor Freewill Baptist Church located at Maynor, WV.
She spent a lifetime serving other in various ways. Her first loyalty was to her "first love", Jesus Christ who sustained her for a lifetime and gave to her a servants heart. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, a homemaker, sister, an aunt, and a friend. For years she worked as a server, later in health care as a nurses aide and personal care giver. She returned to school in 2004 and obtained an Associates degree in Social Sciences with emphasis on Social Justice. She desired (more than anything), a "Masters Degree" in love, although she would quickly tell you that this form of "higher education" would be obtained only in a lifetime.
Nicole is preceded in death by her natural parents Donald and Betty Parks of Ritchie Co. WV. Her adoptive father will live forever and his home is located in the Kingdom of Heaven. siblings, Rhonda Parks, Donald Parks, Jr. and James Davidson.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memory include her loving husband and best friend of 28 years, Merivale J. Slaughter, also of Fayetteville. She was blessed with many children. her first born, Danielle Turner of Mount Hope, WV. and three precious grandchildren, Cassie Nicole, Savanna Rebecca, and Riley all of Fayetteville. Children born-of-her-heart and who lives she shared include Daniel Slaughter and wife Jenny; and there children Christina, Dennis, and Corey, and McKayla; grandchildren, Seth, Jack, Lyle, Amelia, Todd and John; great grandchildren, Jax, Ben, Colton and Baby boy on the way. Her sister, lifelong friend and source of wisdom Carrie Scarbro (and husband Rick) of Mount Hope, WV; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with Pastor Eric Snuffer officiating. Burial will follow at Pax Community Cemetery in Pax, WV.
Visitation for friends will be one hour prior to service on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at the funeral home in Oak Hill.
At this designated time all who plan to attend please the word of promise found in 1 Corinthians 15: 54-55, "So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, death is swallowed up in victory. O death where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory? 'Hold dear to these words" That whosoever believeth in him, (that is Jesus Christ) shall not perish but have everlasting life" John 3:16.
