Nils Edward Ekstrom

Nils Edward Ekstrom, 64, of Oklahoma City, passed peacefully on November 7, 2024. Although born in Madison, WI on June 25, 1960, Nils spent most of his life in Oklahoma, cheering on the OU Sooners and the Chicago Cubs. He loved his childhood in Colorado and his Swedish heritage, inspiring his travels to the Rocky Mountains and painting his house the colors of the Swedish flag.
He was a man who loved a good steak and a fine tequila and will always be remembered as the young boy in a red jacket who would never let go of his archery trophy, even in his sleep. His dedication and love for his cats, building remote controlled models, and cooking showed throughout his life and into retirement.
Nils is survived by his sister, Lynnea Ekstrom, his brothers-in-law Harold Lawson and Gary Brown, by his niece Leah (Ben Nunez) Lawson, great niece Mirabella Nunez and great nephew Kai Nunez, by his niece Alicia (Ming) Li, great niece Linxi Li, his niece Anika (John E) Jaan, great niece Jaya Jaan and great nephew Jahsyr Jaan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verner Ekstrom and Jayna Andrews, his sisters Karyn Lawson and Christina Ekstrom and his great nephew Aliksir Jaan.
Services will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association.
