Mrs. Nina Sue Hopson Childers
Windsor, SC-- A celebration of life service for Mrs. Nina Sue Hopson Childers age 90 will be held 3:00 pm Sunday June 22, 2025 at Grace Covenant Church of God, New Ellenton, SC with Pastor Edgar N. Foster, Sr. and Rev. David L. Holdman officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, SC. Mrs. Childers peacefully passed away at her home Wednesday June 18, 2025. Sue was born September 21, 1934 in Rockhouse, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late Mr. William “Bill” Robert Hopson and the late Mrs. Goldie Bartley Hopson. In 1955 Sue married the love of her life, Tom Childers and were together until he passed in 2006 after 51 years of marriage. With her husband she traveled all over Europe and the world while he was in the U.S. Army before settling down in Aiken County, SC. Sue was a loyal member of the Grace Covenant Church of God, New Ellenton and was a very talented seamstress. She loved cooking and baking and had a very caring heart for children. She is survived by her daughters, Fonteana (Brandon) Dailey, New Ellenton, Neilla Roberts, Iowa, Mytoucha (Terry) Quarles, Windsor; grandchildren, Michelle Dailey, Michael Dailey, Stacy (Brandy) Hall, Jennifer Roberts, Justin (Brandy) Quarles; great grandchildren, Kayla Chavous, Carter Fitzgeral, Madison Hammett, Aidan Roberts, Braedyn Quarles, Wyatt Quarles; great great grandchildren, Brayden Stephens, and Aloni Dupree. She was predeceased by her husband Master Sergeant U.S. Army Retired Neil Thomas “Tom” Childers; two brothers, Johnny and Harold Hopson; two sisters, Myrtle May and Launa Scott. Pallbearers will be Stacy Hall, Justin Quarles, Rick Burckhalter, Sr., Rick Burckhalter, Jr., Chuckie Chambers, Shawn Middleton. Honorary pallbearer will be Rodger Gay. In lieu of flowers donations be made to Grace Covenant Church P.O. 28, New Ellenton, SC, 29809 or to the SC Church of God Home for Children, P.O. Box 309 Mauldin, SC, 29662. A special thank you to Trinity Hospice for all the love and care they gave our mother during her illness.
