Nina B. Harris Heppe, age 92, longtime Charleston business and community leader, passed away early Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the home of her son near Sikeston, MO.

She was born March 23, 1933, in the Texas Bend community, north of Charleston, MO, the daughter of Estel and Florence Haley Harris. She graduated from the Diehlstadt High School in 1951. Nina married Dewey Heppe June 2, 1951, in Piggott, Arkansas. Dewey and Nina opened their business in Charleston known as Heppe's Body Shop and Wrecker Service in 1965. Dewey passed away April 24, 2000.

She is survived by three children: Greg, Karen, and Dewey K; four grandchildren: Brent, Nina, Ben and Rebecca with several great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews as well as a life-long friend, Adon Cox also survive.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by six brothers: Joe, John, James, Jewell, Jesse, Junior Estel, and three sisters, Irene Harris, Lorene Harris, and Frances Evans. Also, two infant sons passed away at birth.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the McMIkle Funeral Home in Charleston.

A private family graveside service will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston. Mitch Pullen will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
