Noemi López Feliciano de Colón, 84, of
New Haven, Connecticut died peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Silas Colón Rodríguez. Noemi was born and raised in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, a daughter of the late Carlos López Chico and the late Maria Perfecta Feliciano Dueño, before moving to
Springfield, MA in the late 1950's. In 1962, she married her soulmate Silas, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.
Noemi dedicated most of her life to being a devoted homemaker, lovingly caring for her children and serving her church community. She was an original member of Star of Jacob Christian Church, founded by her uncle in the 1960's, and played an important role in fundraising efforts to help build the church.
Noemi found joy in reading books, cooking, and supporting her church. Her home was always filled with warmth, love, and the comforting aroma of a home-cooked meal. Everyone loved stopping by because they knew ",Mama" would be cooking-and they knew it was going to be good!
Her kindness, faith, generosity, and loving spirit will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband Silas, Noemi is survived by three daughters, Judith (Israel) Colón-Oliveras and Abigail Chabeli Colón of New Haven and Lillian (Juan Carlos Rivera) Torrez of Vega Baja, two sons, Silas (Laura) Colón, Jr. of North Haven and Carlos (Lourdes Rivera-Colón) Colón of
Palm Bay, FL, four sisters, Ruth Maldonado of
Deltona, FL, Raquel (Hector Alvárez) López Feliciano of
Orlando, FL, Marta (Oscar Rey) López Feliciano of Vega Baja and Rebecca López Feliciano of
Tampa, FL, two brothers, Elias (Laura) López Feliciano of Tampa, and Orlando (Georgina) López Feliciano of Meriden, twelve grandchildren, Felix Chaesare (Loreina) Cordova, Cheyenne (Justin) Colón Gale, Thalia Colón, Kiana (Sean Edmiston) Colón, Chelsea Oliveras, Stephen Oliveras, Brandon Oliveras, Roland Jaden Ortíz, Matthew Silas Ortíz, Karla Enid Rivera, Daisha Rivera and Sophia Noemi Rivera, three great-grandchildren, Luna, Liana and Lucia, and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Rosita López Feliciano and three brothers, Carlos López Feliciano, Luís Gustavo López Feliciano, and Isaías López Feliciano.
Noemi's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, May 20th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Star of Jacob Christian Church, 506 Howard Ave., New Haven. A funeral service will take place at the church at 12:00 p.m. followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T.
