Mrs. Nora ‘Anne’ Carithers Dye, 72, of Bakers Ferry Road, Elberton, wife of 49 years to the late Howard Manning Dye, passed away suddenly, but peacefully in her sleep, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, while vacationing with her family at Tybee Island.
The youngest of two daughters, Anne was born in Elberton on October 19, 1951, daughter of the late Larry Onzlow Carithers and Jessie Doris Peppers Carithers. She was a 1969 graduate of Elbert County High School and was proud to have attended Nancy Hart School. She looked forward to spending time with the ’69 girls group that got together often.
Anne loved her family dearly. She was the most selfless individual one could ever meet, always doing and caring for others. Like a lighthouse in a storm, Anne could be counted on to be a source of strength, encouragement, and peacefulness during any situation. Her gentle spirit, kind hugs, loving personality, and sweet smile will be remembered forever.
Surviving are her children: Brandon Dye of Elberton and Jessica Dye Brown and her husband Roger of Elberton; grandchildren: Averie Grace Dye, Ryker Brown, and Gage Brown; sister, Carolyn Snellings of Elberton; siblings-in-law: Marguerite McCall of Elberton, Tommy Dye of Abbeville, SC, and Kenneth and Ellen Dye of Elberton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 17, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home. A private family interment will be held the next day at Fortsonia Community Cemetery.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to T.J. & Friends Foundation, PO Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635 or to Friends Helping Friends Club, Inc, 1027 Micliff Drive, Elberton, GA 30635.
